What is a PPR and what is the difference between an REO and a PPR?

Rating: +0

Positive Negative

This question evidently originated with a servicing company that was not aware that PPR was already an established and often used abbreviation in the real estate industry.

Our staff members contacted this company and we were told that they were now aware of the conflict and will accept either of the following answers:

  • Property Preservation Report

  • Property Portfolio Report

Property Preservation Report is the answer they intended to get from contractors taking their exam. Property Preservation Report is their terminology for Property Condition Report – another example of a lack of standards in the Property Preservation business.

PPR as used by the real estate industry for years, is the abbreviation for Property Portfolio Report which is a summary spreadsheet of the financial performance of a group (portfolio) of properties.

We hope this helps. It’s probably a bit more than you expected or way more than necessary, but you might as well learn as much as you can about the business. If you become real successful you may want to one day invest in a portfolio of properties and ask your accountant for the latest PPR.
